Blackcurrants are rich in phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. They contain: • 4 x the vitamin C of oranges. • 2 x the antioxidants of blueberries. • 2 x the potassium of bananas. • Are extremely high in GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid) - This is a very rare Omega-6 essential fatty acid. • Contain compounds such as Anthocyanins - These inhibit the enzymes cyclo-oxygenase 1 & 2 and reduce inflammation and the effects of arthritis. • Contain cassis polysaccharide (CAPS) - Found to be very toxic against tumor cells; leading to studies into the anti-cancer properties of black currants.
